Morrison Announced as Preferred Bidder for North Lanarkshire Council’s Property Maintenance Contract
Morrison has been selected as preferred bidder by North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) for the provision of housing and property maintenance services for the next 10 years.
This decision, following the finalisation of contract negotiations, will see Morrison retaining the relationship which it has held with NLC over the past decade and continuing to invest in the region.
The new contract will involve the formation of a new public private partnership between Morrison and NLC, with the council owning 33% and Morrison owning 67% of the new joint venture company.
Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive of Morrison said: "Morrison is thrilled to have been named as preferred bidder for North Lanarkshire Council's housing and property repairs and maintenance contract. Over the past ten years we have built a strong and enviable relationship with North Lanarkshire and together we have been able to deliver improvements both in value for money and service for residents. There is a strong bond of trust and respect between our organisations through which we can commit to significant further investment in the region.
"This new partnership will create an unprecedented opportunity for us to develop a class leading housing and property provision, which delivers an outstanding service along with significant opportunities for community investment and job creation.
"North Lanarkshire is home for Morrison, with many of our corporate support functions and our registered office based in the region, and we are pleased and proud to do business here."
Councillor Jim Smith, Deputy Leader of North Lanarkshire Council, said: "We are delighted to move forward with this new joint venture. Our residents expect quality services and the new joint venture will be a way to not only meet expectations but exceed them. Just as important, though, is what this partnership can deliver for North Lanarkshire in terms of training, employment and investment in the local economy and I am confident that we will see real, lasting benefits in all these areas."
