Rotherham Town Cricket Club Knocked for Six By Improved Facilities
Cricketers in Rotherham can now enjoy improved clubhouse facilities thanks to the completion of a new refurbishment project at Rotherham Town Cricket Club's Clifton Lane Sports Ground. The refurbished clubhouse was officially opened yesterday (31 May 2010) by the Mayor of Rotherham, Rose McNeely.
The project, which involved the members lounge and toilets being fully refurbished, was carried out by leading repairs and maintenance provider Morrison.
Morrison got involved with Rotherham Town Cricket Club after it heard about the problems it was having engaging local children in it youth programme. It is hoped that the improved facilities, will now help to attract new junior members and ensure the future of the club.
Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive, Morrison said: "Morrison was more than happy to help Rotherham Town Cricket Club with this refurbishment project, as it is clear that the club plays an important part in the local community and needs the support of businesses to continue to thrive. We hope that these improvements will help it attract a new generation of cricketers and ensure its future success."
Rose McNeely, Mayor of Rotherham, said: "Our local sports facilities are a key part of our community and my thanks goes to Morrison for its support of Rotherham Town Cricket Club and the work it has done to refurbish the clubhouse. I am sure it will be much used and enjoyed by all the cricketers and their supporters."
James Dixon, Secretary of Rotherham Town Cricket Club, commented: "On behalf of the club I sincerely express our gratitude for the support that Morrison has given the club through the work it has carried out.
"Our club is a family orientated sports club and we put a great deal of effort into our junior section, which involves children of all ages. With the support of companies like Morrison we can expand our activities and encourage more youngsters and their parents to come along and take part in the range sporting activities we have on offer."
As well as the internal refurbishment works Morrison has also sponsored a new scoreboard and hoardings at Clifton Lane Sports Ground.
