Morrison Starts Year on a High with £53 Million Worth of New Contracts

Morrison-143

Morrison has started the year as it means to go on with seven new contract wins worth over £53million. These wins take the total value of the repairs and maintenance provider's new contracts since April 2009 to over £397million, with a potential worth in excess of £464million subject to contract extensions.

The new wins include four contracts in the North of England, including a £10million five year contract with Warrington Borough Council to provide responsive repairs and programmed building maintenance services to the council's 225 public buildings. This contract further expands Morrison's public buildings portfolio, which is particularly strong in the North West.

In addition, Morrison has also secured new contracts with the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive (GMPTE) and existing client Parkway Green Housing Trust in the North West, as well as Guinness Northern Counties in the North East.

These wins follow on from the successful procurement of two new contracts in the Midlands, including a five and a half year contract in South Birmingham with Birmingham City Council. This contract worth over £19million is for the provision of a 3 star gas servicing and upgrade programme to over 24,000 homes.

Following on from this success, Morrison has secured a new five year contract with an option to extend it for a further five years with Beechdale Community Housing Association Limited in Walsall. The contract worth over £9.5million is for the provision of responsive repairs, voids and planned maintenance, cyclical works and gas servicing.

Morrison has also further extended its position in the South East, where it is now the largest specialist repairs and maintenance provider, having won a new contract with Rosebery Housing Association Limited in Surrey. The 10 year contract worth over £13million is for the provision of repairs, maintenance and voids to Rosebery's 2,415 properties, of which the majority are in Epsom and Ewell.

Guy Wakeley, Chief Executive said: "The current economic climate has created new opportunity for Morrison to use its innovative outsourcing model and leverage its national footprint to drive real value and best in class service in the social housing sector.

"This approach and our decision to concentrate on our core repairs and maintenance business has allowed us to continue winning tenders and strengthen our position in the market.

"We are now well on target to deliver a record performance this year with 21 new contracts and five extensions secured since April 2009. Our bid pipeline remains very strong and I hope to be able to announce further wins before the end of this financial year."
