Paragon puts the kettle on for a good cause
The Paragon team recently joined forces with their client in order to raise money for the fight against cancer.
The event, which took place as part of Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’, runs across the UK and encourages local people to come together and take the time to have a coffee with each other and sample some local baking. This year’s event however was more poignant for some staff members as sadly, one of their colleagues at Paragon Housing lost her battle with cancer in April this year. Jill Di Carlo, who worked as part of the repairs and maintenance team at the Group’s Hampton office, supported the charity every year by organising the annual Coffee Morning. Her colleagues and friends, Hannah Fortescue and Donna Brace decided to carry on the tradition by arranging this year’s event.
Cakes were baked and brought to the event, being sold on with freshly made coffee and tea for a minimum £1 donation. Neighbouring offices also attended the event and cakes were left in the Group’s reception area for residents to collect and enjoy. Hannah Fortescue, Quality and Performance Manager, for Morrison Paragon said; “We were delighted with the response to our coffee morning and the generosity of our colleagues and partners. I’m sure Jill would have been really proud.”
Donna Brace, Planned and Decent Homes Manager for Paragon Community Housing Group also commended the event, saying “we held the Macmillan coffee morning today in memory of our former colleague Jill, who would have been really pleased with our efforts today. We would like to thank all who contributed their time, baking skills and kind donations for such a worthy cause.”
The team raised an enormous £350 for the charity so well done to Hannah and Donna for their kind efforts.
