The Portree High School, located on the Isle of Skye houses 800 pupils and is a key building in the local community. Morrison provide all maintenance and cleaning services daily -a tall order requiring a team dedicated, and determined to deliver a first class service.

Portree High School is one of 11 new schools delivered as a PFI project by Alpha Schools (Highland ) Ltd to the Highland Council - the biggest PFI programme ever undertaken by a local authority in the Highlands. The challenge for Morrison was to recruit the right team that could cope with the many day to day issues that transpire in a busy school environment in a remote location where other services are not on your doorstep - in fact the nearest town is over 100 miles away!

The school itself provides fantastic educational facilities, including a 25m Swimming Pool that Morrison manage to make it safe for bathers, plus a Sauna, Climbing wall, Library and Fitness suite, as well as an all weather pitch used by pupils and the local community and tourists alike. Such high end facilities mean that the team have to possess a wide range of experiences to be able to cater for the diversity of services expected - teamwork was essential, as well as the ability to exercise patience and understanding in a school full of children.

The Morrison team of 6 who ensure the school is taken care of on a daily basis are Murdo Nicolson, a local electrician, Derek Reilly, David Gillies, the only Janitor that transferred across from the old school, along with Agnes Murphy, Cleaning Team Supervisor and Chris Nicolson. Together, they ensure all the facilities are safe at all times. Such a diversity of skills mean that once again, Morrison are reaching new heights with the delivery of services for their customers.
