Training Apprenticeships

Morrison is a people based business and whilst we invest in the technology and processes that are employed in the delivery of our services, the most important and focused investment we make is in the people we employ. This we do through structured staff training programmes, from the induction of new staff to the continued development of the skills of each individual we employ.

In outsourcing arrangements with the public sector one of the key components of our value proposition is this committed policy to training. In this way we are able to enhance career opportunities for individuals whilst enabling teams to deliver services more effectively than ever before. This approach has led to Morrison becoming an accredited Investors in People employer, but more than a certificate hanging on a boardroom wall, investment in people is a principle bound into the culture of our business – it’s at the core of what we do.

In parallel with our policy towards training, is our attitude to investment in the local community. Morrison places emphasis on the employment and training of local people. It is a vital source of the skills that fuel our business and adds to the economic productivity of the local community. We understand our responsibility to make financial investment and devote management time to the education and training of the people we employ. Often working in areas of relatively high unemployment we have developed apprenticeship schemes across the UK that make a meaningful contribution to the objectives of social regeneration.

The training of local people is underpinned by our national apprenticeship scheme that we run from all the major regional service delivery hubs. In support of this structured approach to training we are establishing fully equipped Regional Training Centres throughout the UK to provide the infrastructure through which this training is delivered.
