Description

Morrison is working in an innovative partnering contract with Crawley Borough Council in the management of the Council voids maintenance programme. Crawley BC had used a traditional supplier over the previous decade with mixed performance, inflexible service supply and no cost benchmarking.

Crawley Voids Maintenance Morrison secured the Voids, Kitchens and Bathrooms supply and fix contract under TPC 2000 partnering contract. Working with the client and residents, Morrison set out to market test this supply. In keeping with many partnering contracts, Morrison’s performance in the delivery of this service links financial incentives to the achievement of agreed timescales. Continuous improvement approaches that are also linked to this initiative have meant that Morrison has been able to make significant improvements in voids turnaround times. Furthermore the partnering approach has provided increased quality and an 8% savings on costs compared to the previous service contract. The nature of the contract means that all savings achieved are returned to Crawley BC.

  • We have also improved stakeholder communication and supply chain partnership by means of the following initiatives:
  • Resident workshops
  • Residents input on range of choice, design, colour scheme preferences
  • Presentations from a range of suppliers
  • Residents and client partner along with Morrison FS, formed a selection group
  • New supplier chosen at significantly reduced rates and improved quality.

Improving Customer Satisfaction

Morrison focuses also on the improvement of client satisfaction and have introduced a number of measures to achieve this including:

  • The improved quality and range of kitchen units for better whole life performance
  • Faster more flexible 52 week per year service that has helped to improve turnaround times

Because we have improved stakeholder communication residents have felt more involved in this process and have a wider ranges of choices. The provision of 3D design layouts has also meant that residents are better able to visualise the projected outcome and this has allowed residents to make an even more informed choice. Neighbourhood Renewal The faster turnaround of voids has lead to much reduced vacancy rates in Crawley, a key objective of neighbourhood renewal.
