Energy Management - Sustainability

As part of the innovation process, Morrison would look at ways to assess and reduce energy consumption across the estate portfolio from contract commencement. Energy Management is an area that Morrison has had high levels of success in, by illustrating significant cost savings initiatives to a variety of client bases. In some instances these savings have been instantaneous whereas some involve more long-term planning via a carefully budgeted forward maintenance plan. However, in all cases Morrison has been able to raise awareness in energy efficiencies.

Morrison would look to introduce a similar programme as that which was introduced on the Home Office Probation Estate. On this programme there was an objective to initially identify the main uses of energy and obtain best market value prices, but then to identify opportunities to reduce consumption, both on a site specific and estate generic basis. In the main, the programme focused on the equipment installed and its efficiencies through mechanical/automatic control rather than through “human intervention”.

An initial survey could highlight potential savings at any given site. It is not uncommon for savings between 12 and 34% to be identified - in most cases within a year, with only a modest capital outlay.
Morrison would look to suggest the `best return’ recommendations. These recommendations would be considered for ease of implementation and sustainability.
