After months of training and preparation Morrison's marathon team finally took to the streets of London last Sunday (17 April 2011) and took part in one of the world's greatest marathons.

The five runners who made up Team Morrison set off in the sunshine from Greenwich in great spirits, full of energy and enthusiasm for the 26.2miles which lay ahead. The team were cheered on along the route by their Morrison colleagues and their family and friends, who had come out in force to support the runners.

By 3pm all the runners had successfully and safely completed the course and were ready for a well earned rest.

After the race, Neil Alexander, a Customer Services Manager for Morrison who has individually raised an amazing £1252 for Shelter said: "What struck a cord for me was the extent of goodwill for the whole event and the community spirit shown, be it from the people at the start at Greenwich, the estates around London and those willing the runners home in the Mall... It was a great day, with a great atmosphere and the whole occasion was top notch and I am proud to have played a small part in it."

Everyone at Morrison would like to say a huge well done to the team who have raised an amazing £20,458 in sponsorship so far for Morrison's corporate charity partner Shelter.

Special thanks also go to all the people who kindly sponsored Team Morrison. Shelter is a great cause and Morrison is delighted to have had the opportunity to support them through this fantastic event.
