Tim Jones
Position: Apprentice Plumber
Location: Liverpool
My Story:
My role at Morrison is as an apprentice plumber and I have been with the company for 15 months. My day involves meeting a lot of Riverside’s tenants and helping them resolve their plumbing issues. These can range from fixing a dripping tap to changing a bath. Every day is different and no one job is ever the same, which is what I love about the job. If tenants have any other issues or problems we always try and help the best we can.
What is most important to me when I am at work is the customers’ ; happiness. If I do my job properly and get good feedback from tenants it means we are all doing our jobs correctly and that they are satisfied with the work we have carried out.
Being an apprentice means I am still learning my trade and I am really enjoying learning new skills and techniques. I have tried to expand my knowledge and have also worked with a joiner which has allowed me to pick up a lot of new skills which I would have missed out on if I had only worked on plumbing jobs.
I have always enjoyed working with my hands from a young age and had seen plumbing as an ideal career choice. So when I saw the job advertised to become an apprentice with Morrison I jumped at the chance and did my best to become part of the team. I also like meeting all the different tenants; they all have their own personalities and stories to tell.
Outside of work I enjoy most sports and have recently put this to good use by competing in the Liverpool Triathlon, competing on behalf of a charity which supports homelessness. I trained really hard to get into shape, running and swimming before and after work. Morrison sponsored my clothing and helped with my entrance fee. Afterwards I went down to the homeless centre to hand over the funds I had raised and it made me really appreciate how lucky I am.
