National Development Strategy
In practice, we have local community development plans that are tailored specifically to the needs of the local community. Our key priorities for the communities we serve are as follows:
Promote local employment.
We employ local people. We encourage local apprentices, work placements and experience and work closely with organisations such as CITB.
Promote equality and tackle discrimination.
Our dedicated corporate diversity team implements key initiatives throughout the business. The stereotype that women shouldn't go into construction is one we're especially keen on turning over.
Promote safer communities.
Being a little obsessive about health and safety in our own business, we often help local communities with some security fencing and CCTV, or raise safety awareness in schools.
Education and local people development.
You'll find us coaching and supporting work skills at local schools. We help colleges to train the next generation of construction workers. It's all part of leaving a good legacy wherever we work.
Local social and economic development.
Repair, refurbishment and construction skills come in handy for things other than homes. Many parks and community buildings have had the Morrison touch.
Local environmental concerns.
Reduce, re-use, recycle. A simple mantra, but one that's hard at work in our business across 400 different contracts. We've a long way to go, but we're getting there.
We have a dedicated corporate sustainability function which helps implement key initiatives throughout the business.
