Decent Homes
The UK government’s Decent Homes initiative is a commitment to tenants that their homes must have reasonably modern facilities, be warm and weatherproof. All property owned or managed by local councils must be brought up to this standard by 2010.
Traditionally, major improvements to a council property are made when it’s empty. The challenge for councils is that big renovations now have to be made while the resident is still living at the property. Central heating systems need renewing, new kitchens and bathrooms installing, windows and doors replacing. It needs excellent project management and the human touch.
Our dedicated Decent Homes teams specialise in delivering this. Working with our clients, we’ve developed fast track methods to make sure the refurbishment happens quickly, to high standards, while disturbing a tenant as little as possible.
